My wife and I were at Megas a few months ago and had a great meal. We used as gift card to pay for it and had no problems.... read more Went back last Tues, again had a great meal, but they couldn't take the gift card....They mentioned that they had changed owners and therefor didn't have the same system to redeem them. We mentioned we understood, but nonetheless, it's the same name and therefor the same restaurant. They mentioned that their machine reader didn't recognize the gift card. Over all, while I understand their difficulty, this is something the new owners should've taken into consideration upon purchasing the business. I do believe there is no expiry date on gift cards in Ontario by law. As a result this gift card should've been able to be used at a restaurant with the same name, same logo and at the same location. They did offer us free desert but that really wasn't up to par and we weren't interested. In my opinion, we should've been offered some sort of compensation as there was no indication that this was a new business operating with the same name. More

A... read more restaurant that doesn't provide drinks to your table? I found that odd. So you had...to get up in the middle of eating and get a drink? Wtf? Anyhow we found it strange that the whole restaurant was being served food except for us. We got nothing until around 9pm. Some appetizers. Then they came around and asked which main we wanted (we had a choice of 5). We then waited which seemed like forever. Three of us told the waitress we wanted to take it to go since it was getting too late. Again we waited and waited, and finally the waitress came back out to tell us they ran out of food!!! One of the worst rest I've been to.. And so very noisy on top of that. Couldn't here ourselves talking. Never again. More

My family has been to Megas many times over the years, because we enjoyed the food—typical Danforth specialties decently cooked and reasonably priced—comfortable ambiance, and friendly service. Seeking the familiar... read more after months of not dining out, we returned there on a recent Friday night. When we were seated on the patio early in the evening, we noticed there was a band inside playing South American music. We didn’t worry about them being too loud, because we were outdoors on the other side of a glass partition.
But after a break featuring streamed Greek music, the band returned at higher volume and our server suddenly raised the partition. We protested that we couldn’t hear each other speak, but he said his boss told him to. She appeared and snapped, “Sorry.” We were part way through our appetizers, but said we would leave and please pack up the rest of our order. They offered to seat us at an extra table outside the patio, which we accepted. Not a great setting, as it turned out to be the smoking area for Megas and the restaurant next door; we still ended up taking most of our food home.
To complete the review: the food was good, maybe better than I remember from pre-COVID Megas. Our server and other helpers were polite and efficient. But the rudeness of the owner/manager shows that Megas has forgotten the concept of “Filoxenia” or hospitality that usually makes Greek restaurant customers feel welcome. Sadly, we will not return.
Get a quote or estimate before you order a "special". There are better and more honest places nearby. - My wife and I had dinner here last night. The menu shown here is ancient history. The new menu we were told is a work in progress. It is! Everything was overcooked - the Kalamata sausage, the biftekia and the fish dish. The Greek salad was well executed and tasty. The biftekia was dry. My wife did not enjoy it, unlike on our previous visits. Try using medium ground beef, for moister and tastier results, especially when not left as long on the grill.
The new staff here do a "bait and switch" scam. I ordered the codfish fillet with the Greek name, which our waiter repeated back to me. What was delivered were three "sardines", which i normally like, except that these were more like a cross between a pilchard and a smelt. They were coated and deep-fried, which would be a crime with real sardines. For 69% more than the cod!
I also made the mistake of ordering a HALF-LITRE of house red wine, which in the past was Apelia or another full-bodied Greek wine. The charge for this was for 3 glasses of an upscale Australian shiraz. Unlike the previous owners, no wine/drinks list was provided. Once you have consumed the items, there is minimal recourse. We left in a state of shock and despair, as we are writing off what had been one of our favourite restaurants in Toronto. We have been going to Megas for nearly 20 years, and have always had an enjoyable dining experience. Laat night was definitely our last visit, especially as there are several excellent and HONEST restaurants in the immediate area.
The place seemed unusually empty last night (Thursday evening in summer), and the staff seemed somewhat bored. Perhaps the word has got around, even though nothing has been written here.

The service that we received from our waitress was awful
Marina was rude and extremely pushy, as if we were disturbing her
We say other waitresses making frequent visit... read more to their tables but Marina was a ghost
Drinks took forever to arrive and food came with appetizers, seriously?
When came the time to pay Marina was hovering over the table to show tou where to push the 20% tip button on the POS machine
I told her that I will choose the % tip I want and by the way I do not tip on top of the GST!
Due to this experience and thanks to Marina and her great service we will never go back
